NYC Mayor Lights Menorah at Grand Army Plaza

A visit from New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio and a rocking concert by the Moshav band enthralled some 1,000 people who packed into the pedestrian area at Grand Army Plaza in Brooklyn.

Chabad of Park Slope and Cong. Bnei Jacob, led by Rabbi Shimon Hecht, hosted the Moshav band for a lively concert ahead of the lighting of the first candle. The crowd was also treated to hot latkes and menorah set were distributed by volunteers.

New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio along with his son Dante were honored with lighting the Shamosh, they then spent time greeting the crowd and taking pictures together. They also tasted the latkes and declared them “the best”.

The Brooklyn Grand Army Plaza Menorah is lit every weeknight at 6:00pm, on Friday at 3:30pm and on Saturday at 7:00pm.
