ULY-Flatbush Hosts Mishnayos Be’al Peh Award Ceremony

On Rosh Chodesh Adar I, the students of the United Lubavitcher Yeshivoth of Flatbush were introduced to a Mishnyaos Be’Al Peh program. The program, which ran through Yud Alef Nissan, was prepared in honor of the Rebbe’s 114th birthday.

Talmidim were encouraged to study and memorize Mishnayos, Tanya and Siddur. A special booklet with topics on general Jewish knowledge (courtesy of Rabbi Sholom Heidingsfeld of Cheder Menachem of Los Angeles) was also made available, providing additional material for talmidim to learn and earn points.

Talmidm were assigned to one of three divisions, based on their academic skills. The more learned, the more points were earned.

A beautiful MBP board was prepared and updated three times a week, keeping the talmidim informed on their progress.

All information learned was kept track with the help of a comprehensive database, courtesy of Rabbi Dovid Zirkind of Baalpeh.org. This benefited the parents greatly as they were updated regularly via email on their son(s) progress. The Yeshiva took a moment to thank Rabbi Zirkind with a special gift, in appreciation for his help in the MBP program and his expertise throughout the school-year.

At the end of the program, talmidim were able to choose seforim from a beautiful Seforim catalogue (courtesy of CGI Florida).

On Sunday, the 28th of Iyar, parents and grandparents joined the Yeshiva’s faculty in celebrating the Yeshiva’s gift to the Rebbe and their talmidim’s achievements.

These achievements include: 310 lines of Tanya, 5 Mesechtos & 74 Perakim Mishnyaos, 771 Mishnas and 5,585 lines of Mishnayos. Overall, a total of 14,580 lines of Torah were gifted to the Rebbe!

The program was presented to all 120 talmidim from Pre-1A through 8th grade. Each talmid was successfully tested on something; each talmid received a sefer, based on their point total.

The program was held in the beautiful Ohel Moshe Lubavitch shul, courtesy of Rabbis Moshe Chaim and Heshy Kornblit.

Rabbi Shmuel Dechter, principal of the yeshiva began the program by greeting everyone. This was followed by the recitation of the 12 Pesukim.

Rabbi Sholom Baras, principal and program director of the Yeshiva addressed the packed shul, sharing how proud the Yeshiva was of the talmidim and encouraged them to continue their efforts, in the spirit of Hakhel.

Following a video of the Rebbe, showing how much the Rebbe appreciated gifts of limud be’al peh and sharing school-wide achievements, the top 3 talmidim were called up: 1st place Gedaliya Azulai; 2nd place Sholom Ber Baruch; 3rd place Dovid Shurpin – all from the 6th grade.

Prior to presenting each talmid with their seforim, each Rebbi was publicly thanked and honored for their efforts throughout the school year, particularly their involvement in the MBP program. In appreciation, each Rebbi was gifted with a copy of the recently released sefer, “Sefer HaSichos 5701” from Sichos in English.

Each talmid was then called up, one at a time, to receive their seforim. Fathers and grandfathers were invited on-stage to take a photo-op, masterfully taken by Mendel Katz of MendelKatzPhotography.com.

A simultaneous multimedia presentation ran throughout the program, highlighting each talmid’s achievements.

“The Yeshiva wishes all stakeholders of the Yeshiva much nachas from our talmidm. It is the hope that our gift has given the Rebbe much-deserved nachas,” said the Yeshiva’s administrator.
