Picture of the Day: Tishrei Guests Arrive

Hundreds of guests began pouring into Crown Heights ahead of the upcoming high holidays, and with this year being a ‘Shnas Hakhel,’ thousands more than usual are expected. Many of the guests made their first stop at 770, creating the familiar scene of piling up luggage.

If that’s your feeling, please lock yourself as no one wants to see such a “nice” person

    welcome! Bruchim haboim!
one question: The 770 Yeshiva is begging for money for families for food. When these Israeli kids come (and 99% are kids) they lay out about $3,000 each. (ticket, taxi, shopping etc) to have a grand old time. Multiply that by 2500? plus the cost of room and board here for our community, individual and public. Can not some of all that wealth be given to starving people in Israel? Or the money that the schools and yeshivas save when the kitchen is closed and staff are not working. There are about 3 -5 family members from each family coming to NY for Tishrei.

I think you mean, ‘Many of the guests plan to sleep at 770, creating the familiar scene of piling up luggage.’

Last year there was an article about young women wandering the streets because their accommodations “didn’t work out”.Is anything being done so this doesn’t happen again?

Why do all these guests come?
What do they do here? Is it not better to be by your local Rov or Mashpia for Yom Tov?

  • Rebbe's Oirchim

Be careful what you say! These are not your guests!
These are the Rebbe’s Personal guests. He wanted them here. He honored them every farbrengan with the Mezoines from his plate. If you want to have a part in the Rebbe’s special oirchim do so, if you can’t keep, quite and remember who you are starting with !

Ya! That’s right. It’s the Rebbe’s Schuna. It’s meant to be. It’s a mitzvah to do hachnosat orchim. Many blessings come to those who participate. But hey, if you want blessings there’s a formula to follow.
