Gov. Declares State of Emergency; Mulls Travel Ban

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, warning that conditions during the snowstorm will be “dangerous and difficult,” declared a state of emergency today for New York City and suburban areas to the north and east.

From My Fox NY:

Governor Cuomo said the massive snowstorm barreling into the area “should not be taken lightly” and “could affect health and safety.” Winds could gust to 55mph, and blowing snow will affect visibility and cause drifting.

Cuomo says he’s considering a travel ban on all main roads in the New York City area as a safety precaution.

The governor says the ban will be confirmed after an updated weather report at 4:00pm. However, he says it’s likely to be implemented at 11:00pm.
