The founder of NYPD Rant - an Internet forum for disgruntled cops - has agreed to change the name of his controversial Web site in exchange for his police pension, the Daily News has learned.

Ex-cop Edward Polstein has surrendered to the city's demand that he drop “NYPD” from the title, but he's already planning a new site where disgruntled cops - hiding in anonymity - can spew racist rants and hate-filled attacks on the public, their superiors and other targets.

The settlement would mark the end of Polstein's bitter federal lawsuit charging that he was fired in retaliation for criticizing Mayor Bloomberg and Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly on the Web site.

Ex-Cop Agrees to Change Name of NYPD Rant Web Site for Pension

The founder of NYPD Rant – an Internet forum for disgruntled cops – has agreed to change the name of his controversial Web site in exchange for his police pension, the Daily News has learned.

Ex-cop Edward Polstein has surrendered to the city’s demand that he drop “NYPD” from the title, but he’s already planning a new site where disgruntled cops – hiding in anonymity – can spew racist rants and hate-filled attacks on the public, their superiors and other targets.

The settlement would mark the end of Polstein’s bitter federal lawsuit charging that he was fired in retaliation for criticizing Mayor Bloomberg and Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly on the Web site.

According to court papers, the original Web site in 1999 bore the department’s logo and statements comparing police officials to Nazis. Unauthorized use of the NYPD logo is a misdemeanor offense and could lead to confusion that the Web site was sanctioned by the Police Department, city lawyers argued.

Polstein’s lawyer was tight-lipped Tuesday about the deal.

“I’m not at liberty to discuss any proposed settlement due to the fact the agreement has not been signed by the city or the judge,” said Polstein’s lawyer, Jeffrey Goldberg of Lake Success, L.I.

But that hasn’t stopped Polstein from commenting. “The catch [is] I have to change name of the NYPD Rant,” he wrote in a recent posting. “I’m no longer to use the consecutive letters NYPD on the Web. EVER!”

New names under consideration include “NYCPD Rant” and “THEE Rant.”

“This place has evolved from my rant into our rant,” he wrote. “Our rant – that sounds cool. How about that?”

Polstein was an 18-year veteran of the force when he was fired and stripped of his pension for violating a deal with police prosecutors worked out after he decided to test security measures at Police Headquarters personally.

You should take a look at all the nice things NYPD officers have to say about Jews (and others)on that site.
Nothing has changed, in fact I believe it’s gotten worse with all the post 9-11 rookies; the NYPD care about the NYPD period. A good deal of the rookies are recent vets who came of age in a place where the good guys have the uniform, everyone else is “something less” at best to them.

Every reader of this blog should check out this site (NYPD Rant) and see what officers of the NYPD really think of Jews and Hassids in particular under cover of a screen name without fear of retribution.
Just see what they had to say about last years “riot” in BP for starters.

Fortunately, whenever some wise guy on the board writes something anti-semitic or racist on that site, there are usually other intelligent, level-headed posters who will put these people in their place. As a matter of fact, there are more people on that site who appreciate the Jewish people & the state of Israel then you can imagine. Not all, but quite a few.

“they assimilated in Germany, why not here…”

The vets are conditioned to look down on semites. “Friggin’ Ragheads Hajis Jews” and anyone who is “different.”

Is this mistaken mentality of ‘other’ and us vs. them standard in the Armed Forces the most diverse institution in America?

Hostility towards peers and counterparts hurts law and order enforcement.
Bush said you’re “with us or with them” Many citizens with questions or doubts were told to love America or leave it.
Wonder how racist NYC employees would respond if Mayor Dinkins Koch Giuliani and Bloomberg told them to love it or leave it?

Shift your energy from others competing for breadcrumbs to the big picture. Our leader borrows five trillion dollars worth of bread and reduces the purchasing power of our dollar by 41%. He held us hostage to fossil fuel by stopping safe solar power on public lands. Resulting in us rewarding countries of the hijackers of September Eleventh like Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Now ask, who is with us and who is with them?

How does anyone know that the people posting are cops? Really people11 Get a grip on reality. Most cops wouldn’t be caught dead on a site like that.
