Massive Satmar Wedding Gets The Veto From Cuomo

A massive Satmar wedding planned for Monday in Williamsburg got a veto from Governor Cuomo after plans for the near 10,000 person wedding were leaked.

The NYC Sheriffs Office first sounded the alarm on the wedding, prompting the New York Health Commissioner Dr. Howard Zucker to sign a Section 16 order prohibiting the wedding.

“We received a suggestion that was happening. We did an investigation and found that it was likely true,” Cuomo said. “Look, you can get married, you just can’t have 1,000 people at your wedding.”

The wedding was planned in Williamsburg, an area outside of any red, orange or yellow zone, allegedly with the knowledge of local officials.
