Some D.C. National Guard troops deployed to protests in Washington have tested positive for COVID-19, officials said Tuesday — as top White House Coronavirus Task Force members warned governors of a possible spike in infections tied to the nationwide demonstrations.

The service members were among 1,300 D.C. National Guard members called to assist law enforcement in responding to anti-police brutality protests in the nation’s capital beginning on May 31, a spokeswoman confirmed to McClatchy DC.
