Manalapan, NJ – Celebration 20 will offer an opportunity to reflect on the accomplishments of Chabad of Western Monmouth County during the past 20 years and look ahead to projects that are being planned for the future. The gala journal dinner celebrating two decades of service will take place at the Excelsior, Route 9, Manalapan, on June 4.

In addition, the event will acknowledge several guests of honor whose support and efforts have benefited community endeavors on many levels.

David Findel, CEO of Financial Resources, Marlboro, is an active supporter of the Ari Kraut Friendship Circle, which extends a helping hand to families who have children with special needs, and involves them in a full range of Jewish and social experiences.

In addition to supporting Chabad programs for many years, honorees Terri and Avi Sibony’s three children have been active volunteers in the Friendship Circle’s program of pairing teenage volunteers with children who have special needs. They will be honored along with their fellow adult and youth volunteers during the event.

Rabbi Avraham and Zisa Bernstein, Freehold Township, will be honored in the “bar mitzvah” year of their service to the community. The Bernsteins moved to western Monmouth County in January 1994 to help expand Chabad outreach programs in the community. In addition to serving as program director at Chabad House and camp director at Gan Israel Day Camp, rabbi Bernstein and Mrs. Bernstein serve as the Chabad rabbi and rebbetzin for the Freehold Jewish community.

A special tribute will be made to the Malavsky family, whose generosity has enabled Chabad to dedicate a new building to serve the needs of Chabad of Ocean County in loving memory of Cantor Shmuel and Harriet Malavsky.

According to a press release, exposing youth to the beauty and joys of Judaism is central to the efforts of Chabad. In addition to involving the children in hands-on holiday programs, Chabad runs a monthly bat mitzvah club and weekly youth zone and mishmor youth clubs.

Looking to the future, Chabad hopes to establish a permanent site for Camp Gan Israel, as well as a center for Jewish life that would serve all segments of the Jewish community, with a focus on youth. One of the major goals of the upcoming dinner is to establish a fund for these projects.
