Crown Heights Bikur Cholim’s 10K Raffle

This is the time of year when we usually look forward to welcoming many of you to our Annual Brunch. The theme of this year’s Annual Brunch would have been “Celebrating Community”. While we were unable to be physically together in celebration of our volunteers and honorees, the theme resonates even more fully today. What does it mean to be a community when we are each in our own home, unable to be with our family and friends? It means we are bound together by our caring for each other and by our commitment to ensuring each other’s wellbeing, by the kindness we give and receive and by the hope we share for a better time. We are apart but we are not alone.

These past several months have upended all of our lives, including placing serious financial constraints and medical challenges on many of our community members. The loneliness of isolation, the medical worries and fears, and the financial insecurity that we have all been experiencing is something that Bikur Cholim patients live with long term. While so many of our families are struggling due to the crushing strain of an unforeseeable pandemic, Bikur Cholim has been by their side through it all. From delivering meals to the hospitals for patients with dietary restrictions, to helping families kasher their kitchens or dress their children for pesach; from babysitting, delivering toys and crafts to children stuck at home, to safely driving patients to ongoing medical treatments. Our community has been operating stronger than ever. Thank you for partnering with us during this unprecedented and challenging time.

Being forced to cancel our annual fundraising event, we turn to you to help us continue our commitment to this community. We hope and pray that Bikur Cholim will always be here until the time be”H when these efforts will no longer be needed. Please buy a raffle ticket(s) and help us continue our vital work.
