A Dedication and Farbrengen For Heichal Shmuel in Memory of Shmuel Karnowsky OBM

Towards the end of Tishrei, the Karnowsky family, members of Hanholas Hayeshiva and his many classmates and friends, gathered in the Dining Hall of Oholei Torah as Osher and Rivka Karnowsky dedicated Heichal Shmuel, a wing in the Eastern Parkway Campus Dining Hall, in memory of their beloved son, Shmuel, who passed away short while ago.

The evening was in a Farbrengen style atmosphere befitting a tribute for Shmuel, who so loved and grew in Oholei Torah.

Opening the evening was Rabbi Nosson Blumes, Director of Development and a close friend of Reb Osher and Rivka Karnowsky. Rabbi Blumes spoke about the significance of allocating a place for a dedication and the uniqueness of the actual area – a hub of activities throughout the day, where talmidim daven, eat nourishing meals and Farbreng. With the name Heichal Shmuel, all the activities will be in his z’chus. It will now be a place where the talmidim draw inspiration and forever remember Shmuel.

The dedication plaque was unveiled by Shmuel’s parents and siblings, and then Rabbi Blumes made a special request, that Shmuel’s Melamdim and Menahalim to join for a group picture, as they gave so much to Shmuel, and as Shmuel, also, gave to them.

Rabbi Hershel Lustig, Dean Emeritus of the Mossad, spoke of Shmuel’s outstanding qualities and the impact he made on so many of his classmates.

Following Rabbi Lustig, Osher Karnowsky thanked Oholei Torah for all Oholei Torah did for Shmuel and expressing how much Shmuel loved the Mossad. He also suggested that we all should take upon ourselves good and positive resolutions in Shmuel’s memory.

Rabbi Mendel Duchman, Director of Philanthropy, spoke on behalf of the Board of Directors. Rabbi Duchman expressed the uniqueness of making a dedication in the Oholei Torah campus, being it gives a global perspective, as the talmidim continue on to be shining examples in communities around the world.

Following the more formal part of the dedication, Shmuel’s classmates and friends sat for a Chassidishe Farbrengen with a Mashpia from the Oholei Torah Mesivta, Rabbi Mendel Marinowsky.

Heichal Shmuel will most definitely be an active center for the 1850 talmidim of Oholei Torah, and a tremendous zechus for the beloved talmid, Shmuel, a”h.
