Affordable Apartments to Be Allocated by Lottery

From Curbed NY:

A five-story, 165-unit rental building at 267 Rogers Avenue in Crown Heights has launched the affordable housing lottery [PDF] for 33 of its residences.

The project, helmed by Think Architecture and Design, has been in the works for several years now and has replaced what once was the St. Ignatius Catholic Church, which was razed in 2013 to make way for the residential building.

The lottery caters toward those earning 60 percent of the area median income (AMI) and offers four one-bedroom apartments that each rent for $931/month for those earning between $31,920 and $45,840; there are 27 two-bedroom apartments that go for $1,123/month for incomes that fall between $38,503 and $57,240; and just two three-bedroom apartments priced at $1,292/month for families earning between $44,298 and $66,240.

The building doesn’t seem to boasts the fanciest of amenities but does include a 24-hour attended lobby and a parking lot.

Applications for the affordable units are being accepted until September 27.
