Erev Shabbos Shooting in Crown Heights

A man was shot just outside a Jewish business in Crown Heights just minutes before Shabbos this week, sparking a search for the group responsible.

The police were alerted to a report of three shots fired outside of The View Optique eyeglasses store on the corner of Union Street and Nostrand Ave Friday evening around 6:50pm, with the 911 caller stating that a person had been shot.

The responding officers found the victim shot in the stomach and initiated a search for a group of six men possibly involved in the shooting. The report indicated that the group fled southbound on Nostrand Ave.

The victim was transported to the hospital by city EMS.
