Officers responding to a domestic violence call in Crown Heights Monday night were forced to fire their weapons after they were attacked by a knife wielding assailant in a persons home.

According to a police source, officers responded to a call for domestic violence on Hawthorne Street between Troy Ave and Albany Ave late Monday night. The two officers from the 71st Precinct were inside the basement apartment when one of the parties lunged at them while holding a knife. The officers fired multiple rounds but did not hit their attacker. Instead, the two were able to disarm and restrain the person, placing them under arrest without any injuries.

According to sources, although the house was bought by a Jewish person, the old tenants of the basement apartment had not yet moved out.
