A package thief’s crime pattern has taken shape in Crown Heights, leaving residents and landowners worried for their front doors.

The still unamed thief has hit at least three locations in the Crown Heights area in just a few weeks, taking package thefts to a whole new level.

Around 1:00pm Monday afternoon, Crown Heights Shomrim received a call to their hotline, notifying them that there was a break in in progress in Crown Heights.

Shomrim volunteers and police rushed to Maple Street and Kingston Ave to find the buildings glass front doors ripped from its frame, and a bag with a large stone nearby. Police searched the entire building, but the thief had already made his escape.

A police report was filed by the 71st precinct on the incident.

The new method of entry for package thieves has become a pattern, with at least two other similar incidents in Crown Heights over the last two weeks.

On shabbos, he targeted a building on East New York Ave, leaving a large pile of glass and taking an even larger pile of packages.

A break in earlier in the week was also reported, where the thief destroyed the glass front doors of another building and stole packages from inside.
