22-Year-Old Father Shot Dead While Riding Bike

Carlik McClatchie, a 22-year-old father, was fatally shot while riding his bike on a Crown Heights street Wednesday evening.

From the NY Daily News:

McClatchie was pedaling on Albany Ave. near Prospect Pl. in Crown Heights at 7 p.m. when a gunman sprayed about 10 bullets on the block, cop sources said.

He was hit in the stomach and died at Interfaith Hospital, according to police.

“His bike was in the street and he was down on the sidewalk,” said witness Alberto, a grocery clerk who would only give his first name. “He was sitting up and then he fell back. It didn’t look good.”

Family members who gathered at the crime scene, which was littered with shell casings, said McClatchie was a construction worker with a 4-year-old son.

    Cause and effect. Having more surveillance cameras treats the effect, but fails to address the root cause. (I’ve spent my whole life in law enforcement and security). Even in the most Orwellian Police State that one can imagine, having cameras everywhere will not prevent one from letting their Yetzer Ha-Ra run amok.

    Yes, once low resolution surveillance cameras are replaced with 20+ megapixel cameras the arrest rates might increase, but catching the “bad guy(s)” doesn’t offer much consolation to their victims.

    Those ruled by their inner-Amalek will continue to obey the dictates of their Nefesh HaBahamis. Yes, I know Klal Yisrael has a lot on their plate, but had I learned about the Noachide Laws and mussar (etc) from Torah-observant Jews back when I was a kid, then maybe it wouldn’t have taking me fifty years to tame my Evil Impulse. I’m just saying….

      The parade took place on September 7th. It has no correlation to this crime which happened two days later.

    inside says he Shot first while riding bike then he was put to rest why where there shell casings by his body of he was hit once common sense . he fired first

    He was no saint. Very much a sinner. Been locked up for gun charge and assault. He went looking for trouble with his own gun and got dealt with.
