Woman Narrowly Escapes Rapist in Crown Heights

At around 3:00am Sunday morning, February 1st, a 32-year-old woman was walking on Troy Ave. between Sterling and Park when she was approached from behind by a man wearing a black ‘hoodie.’

According to police, the suspect solicited her by offering her money. The victim refused, and the suspect then pushed her to the ground, grabbed her and attempted to rape her. The victim managed to free herself and ran from the location.

The victim was not injured, and the suspect fled the scene.

The NYPD is hoping the public can help identify the suspect. He is described as an African-American male in his 30s, about 6′, 180 pounds and wearing a black skull cap, headphones, a black hoodie, a black waist-length North Face bubble jacket and black pants.

He spoke with an accent that NYPD officials characterized as African.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.

Let’s play what’s wrong with this sentence!

    Nuff said.

      Blame the victim much?

Perhaps she had a reason to be there and had no choice otherwise.

This is a post looking to help someone catch a horrible person, not discuss how appropriate walking down a street at 3am is. If there really is a street that exists where one can assume they will be raped, the cops need to make their presence known in that area.

No one said the girl was Jewish – perhaps she lived there and was walking home after work.

Yes, it was not smart to walk there at 3am but that does not give a man a right to try to rape someone either. Do not legitimize rape.

(3:00am Sunday morning = 3:00am Saturday night) is when the bars close Saturday night and this rapist just finished his drinking in a local bar

  • No Justification of Crime

No one is blaming the victim, however, being a lifetime resident of NYC, it never has been safe to walk alone in the wee small hours of the morning, not man nor woman. Didn’t the Rebbe suggest walking in groups of three?

  • A lot of white young women moved to ch

They don’t know the ch rules – at dark stay home ….. But some of then are actually coming home from a work /etc ….. We need more police patrol on the streets ….more camera and more lighting ….
Scary to go all Troy /Albany /Kinston inside the Jewish quater not only outskirts of Jewish neighborhood ….

Of course it is important to be smart and consider the realistic dangers of the streets. I agree with the comment #5. Let us not victim blame–we know better. B”H it was not worse for this woman.

  • Hoodie

African, 6′, 180, hoodie, Beats headphones, black pants (in need of a pull up), prefers rear end – to me they all look the same.

description needs to be more specific

  • To number 5

Why of course. 1234 were legitimizing rape. Right? Where did they say that a so you really think any commenters in ch.info are legitimizing rape. They are just stating te obvious. You’ve got to be careful because there are rapists out there. Don’t walk around 3am especially in questionable neighborhoods.

Some people do work jobs that have late hours. Sorry that she had to walk home and almost get raped. Maybe she should have asked one of you people with your negative comments to pay for her cab!!
