Wheel Thefts of the Week: President and Carroll

Thieves were hard at work Thursday night, stealing all four tires off two vehicles, one of which was parked in a driveway in front of the owner’s home.

The thefts were discovered Friday morning, one on Carroll Street just off Kingston Avenue and another in the driveway of a home of President Street near New York Avenue.

The targeted vehicles were a brand new Infinity sport sedan and a Honda Odyssey minivan.

Officers from the evidence collection unit were later seen collecting fingerprints from the targeted vehicles in hopes of identifying suspects connected with the crime.

These thefts continue and highlight this often occurring incident, which continues with impunity and will continue until the thieves are caught. The targeted cars have been mostly new and in the upper range, particularly newer-model Hondas, though some older and cheaper vehicles have fallen victim as well.

In the meantime, be sure to protect your vehicle in as many ways as possible so you do not become a victim. Anti-theft lug nuts and car tilt alarms are two examples of relatively simple safety measures that can be added to a vehicle.

Remember, even if an added security measure isn’t 100% foolproof, it will still likely deter thieves from targeting your car and cause them to move on to an easier target.

What’s our leaders and the nypd doing to stop this ? Nothing these thieves are laughing at us its free money for them its time we put cameras on every corner and we need volunteers to watch them every night this way we can stop all crimes as soon as they begin

NYPD could and should set up an undercover sting.
Put out a few bait cars, perhaps with GPS on the tires (if possible), wait for the thieves to arrive, follow them to their base and end of story.

If it happens again, you do the same thing again.

    Will they do this?

    They won’t.

    Why?

    Because they don’t care.

  • Check the closest tire shops

Get to the tire sellers and check them !!! Somebody buying the stolen tires must be punished first

  • Another Option

Get better lighting for the streets of CH! Was walking around at night and it dawned on me that I couldn’t see peoples faces til we were 3 ft apart.
It’s crazy… with so much darkness no wonder these crooks get away with so much!

I can almost guarantee…get a 2001 Ford minivan and they won’t steal the tires. You have to lease a fancy schmancy high end vehicle to drive to Kingston Avenue to go shopping??? In my opinion, it’s a waste of good Jewish money. Spend your money on more worthwhile things, or give Tzedaka!

We have to put pressure on the Police Department to take action or this will not be resolved. This is happening more frequently because the thieves dont feel threatened with police action that will lead to their incarceration. I hope the leaders in the community take the necessary steps to place pressure on the Police Department or we will have no choice but to protest outside the prescient.
