Brooklyn’s Largest Menorah Kicks Off

Over 2,500 people braved the rain and celebrated the Jewish holiday of Chanukah at the annual kickoff concert at Brooklyn’s Largest Menorah.

Entertaining the enthused crowd were local sensations Pey Dalid and Shulem.

Rabbi Shimon Hecht of Chabad of Park Slope encouraged the crowd to take the warmth of Chanukah from the streets back into their homes. He also brought attention to the Rebbe’s message that kindling this Menorah “lights up the entire world.”

NYC Mayor Bill DeBlasio was honored with lighting the Shamash. He expressed his admiration for the event, commented on the overwhelming crowd size, and proclaimed to all that the warmth and light of NYC will overpower any negativity in the world.

Mr. Adam Kaufman of Arbor Crowd was given the great honor of lighting the first candle and distributing gifts to all of the children.

Also sharing warm regards was Corey Johnson, Speaker of NYC Council. Representing Governor Coumo was Ms Ronnie Hakim, Director of the MTA.
