Prime Minister Mike Eman of Aruba joined 1,500 residents and tourists who came out to celebrate Chanukah with a menorah-lighting and holiday concert at the Hyatt Beach Deck in Palm Beach.

Rabbi Ahron and Chaya Blasberg, co-directors of Chabad of Aruba, presented Eman, who is Jewish, with a personal menorah. Then the prime minister lit five candles on the giant public menorah in celebration of the fifth night of Chanukah.

In his remarks, Eman thanked the Blasbergs for their commitment to the people of Aruba and spoke of how moved he was when he visited Lubavitch World Headquarters earlier this year.

Eman noted the importance of being inspired by people like the Blasbergs and their constant efforts to share “values that should guide us all.” He also said he looks forward to Blasberg’s visits to his office, when the rabbi helps him put on tefillin, and “we talk about religion, we talk about G‑d, we talk about our purpose here on earth.”
