Vancouver Mayor Joins Chanukah Celebration

Over 350 members of Vancouver’s Jewish community gathered outside the Vancouver Art Gallery on Tuesday evening, December 16, to celebrate the first night of Chanukah by lighting the tallest menorah in Canada – the Silber Family Agam Menorah.

It began with a special performance by a Brazilian Capoeira group and Chanukah refreshments, followed by greetings from dignitaries, including Mayor Gregor Robertson; Hon. Hedy Fry, Member of Parliament for Vancouver Centre; and Selina Robinson, MLA for Coquitlam-Maillardville.

The Menorah was lit by Rabbi Schneur Wineberg, Mayor Gregor Robertson and a member of the Silber family.
