Kinus Torah Held in Hallendale Beach Florida

by Joseph Obermeyer

Thursday night, the last night of Chol Hamoed Pesach, a beautiful Kinus Torah took place at Congregation Levi Yitzchok – Lubavitch, the Headquarters of Chabad of South Broward.

Organizing the Kinus was Rabbi Mendy Levy, an active member of Anash in Hallandale Beach, who runs the Friday night Minyan in Three Islands, and together with his wife Batye, are involved with many unique Mivtzoim initiatives.

The Kinus took place during the weekly Kollel for Businessmen and Professionals, run by Rabbi Mordy Feiner, Director of the Kollel and adult education in South Broward, and Shliach to Golden Isles.

Speakers at the Kinus included:
Rabbi Moshe Schwartz, Chabad’s Administrator since 1988, who spoke about the Chassidishe meaning of Mitzrayim, Yetzias Mitzrayim and Krias Yam Suf;

Rabbi Chaim Dalfin, noted author and speaker, who spoke on כל המספר הרי זה משובח- the integrity of storytelling;

Habochur Hatomim Mendel Majeski who beautifully expounded on a Sicha from the Rebbe on Pesach;

Rabbi Eli Phillips, a Yungerman assisting Rabbi Raphael Tennenhaus with THE CHASSIDISHE DAF – the דף החסידי – who discussed the Halachos of Tefillin of Rabbeinu Tam;

Rabbi Levi Tenenhaus, Shliach and Director of CTeen , The Friendship Circle, The Hebrew School, Bar and Bat Mitzvah Club etc, who based on various sources , calculated the exact amount of time of slavery in Mitzrayim;

Rabbi Leibel Kudan, the energetic and dynamic Shliach of Chabad South Ocean Drive, who related various sources how R’ Eliezer Ben Hurkanus was able to attend the Seder in Bnei Brak if he was in Cheirem;

Rabbi Shay Amar, Shliach of Golden Beach , who eloquently gave over numerous teachings of Reb Levik, zt”l, the Rebbe’s father, whose birthday was the day before on 18 Nissan.

The Kinus, although organized a day before, was well attended, and made a big impact on all participants.

Rabbi Raphael Tennenhaus, Head Shliach of South Broward, who was out of town, expressed immense satisfaction of the Hallandale Beach Kinus Torah:

The Hallandale Beach Kinus Torah, and its success, is a reflection of what’s happening in Hallandale Beach and Southeast Broward.
Not only are Anash moving here in droves, but many Yungeleit take initiative in doing Mivtzoim, giving Shiurim, and creating new programs. With great pride and humility, I am reporting this to the Rebbe at the Ohel, and we hope that this gives the Rebbe much Nachas.
