770 Trees Cut Down After Being Damaged in Storm

by CrownHeights.info

An end of an era.

Two trees that have stood behind 770 – flanking the Tashlich pond for many years – were cut down Monday, after this past weeks storm destabilized them and set them leaning dangerously.

The work was done under the watchful eye of Rabbi Chaim Boruch Halberstam, and was done by Yosef Yitzchak Rabkin.

Based on the many rings on the stump of the trees, they were nearly 60 years old. The trees had been standing behind 770 for approximately 40 of those years, and were planted as already grown trees.
