A volunteer appreciation event promises to be an inspiring celebration of Torah study, in the merit of a speedy recovery for founder Rabbi Yehudah Dukes.

Once a week, JNet volunteers make a phone call. During this precious window of time, chavrusa and volunteer study Torah together. Topics vary between the weekly Parsha, the history of Judaism, the Talmud and Kabbalah. This year, JNet is hosting a virtual event to honor these volunteers in a Torah celebration of epic proportions.

“We’re recognizing the dedication of our volunteers, who are committed, week after week, to a journey of inspiring study, stimulating discussion, and exhilarating growth,” says Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky, chairman of Merkos L’inyonei Chinuch and the driving force behind JNET. “Our volunteers have made sure we can continue to deliver on the JNet promise: any place, any topic, any time.”

In addition to volunteers, study partners are also invited to the event—along with the entire Jewish community. The event is in merit of the speedy recovery of Rabbi Yehudah Dukes, JNet’s founder and director of over fifteen years, who is currently suffering from the heavy aftereffects of coronavirus.

The event will balance inspiration and entertainment with presenters including US Ambassador, David Friedman and Rabbi Yossi Jacobson. The program’s highlight will be a presentation from real people on the ground who are learning each week.

Over the past year, over 50,000 hours of Torah study have been learned through JNet study partnerships, adding up to over a half million hours of learning Torah since JNet was launched in 2005. The JNet network currently facilitates learning between 12,000 people in over 80 different countries and 8 different languages.

“JNet has impacted lives in a very real way,” says Rabbi Levi Meijers, interim director of JNet. “This is a chance for the world to hear their experiences first-hand.”

The event will be taking place on Sunday, June 14th, 8:00 pm (est).
