Three New Mosdos For Chabad of the Valley

Coinciding with the fourth Yahrtzeit of Rabbi Yehoshua Binyomin Gordon z”l, Chabad of the Valley today announced that it will be establishing three new Moisdos in the S. Fernando Valley. The new Chabad Houses form part of the initiative launched by West Coast Head Shliach Rabbi Shlomo Cunin, when he originally requested that 43 new institutions (now expanded to 70 institutions by Yud Shvat 5781) be established in memory of his son, Rabbi Tzemach Cunin obm.

The Valley represents a very significant Jewish populace. Rabbi Gordon and his wife Deborah arrived as Shluchim of the Lubavitcher Rebbe in Encino, CA in 1973 where they established Chabad of the Valley. In over four decades under the leadership of Rabbi Gordon, along with his associate Rabbi Mordechai Einbinder, Chabad has been responsible for transforming the spiritual landscape of this vast area. With the new centers soon to be
established, Chabad of the Valley will have 30 community centers staffed by a team of over 80 Rabbis and Rebbetzins.

The first new center will be established as Chabad of North Hills under the direction of Rabbi Mendy and Mushkie Sputz working closely with and in conjunction with the neighboring Chabad of Northridge and Rabbi Eli Rivkin. Plans are also being finalized for another Chabad House to open in Saugus, that will be closely affiliated with Rabbi Choni and Frumi Morsow of Chabad of S. Clarita. The establishment of a third new Chabad Center in the Valley is also underway with more details to follow in due course. Upon the launch of all three centers, in aggregate, four new Chabad Houses will have been established in the Valley in the four years since Rabbi Gordon’s passing.
