The Rebbe’s Guests – Our Responsibility

The new year is upon us. Tishrei has arrived and the streets are buzzing as everyone is busily preparing for the yomim tovim that lay ahead.

Tishrei always brings along with it thousands of bochurim who will be traveling to New York to spend yomtov by the Rebbe. A bochur’s trip to spend Tishrei by the Rebbe is the jumpstart to his year. The inspiration that is gained and the hiskashrus that is felt is what will fuel his learning and keep his fire burning.

However, for many bochurim, figuring out the logistics of their stay is very daunting. Sleeping accommodations need to be organized and meals need to be arranged. Additionally, the entire experience can be very daunting for a young bochur who can easily become lost in the sea of activity that is Tishrei by the Rebbe.

This is where the Vaad Hatmimim comes in. The Vaad Hatmimim is working tirelessly to address the physical and spiritual needs of the 1,500 bochurim who come each year to spend Tishrei by the Rebbe.

Materially, the Bochurim are taken care of from A-Z. Sleeping arrangements are provided and daily meals are available for all who wish to take part.

Additionally, a complete spiritual program is provided for all Bochurim; an aspect of their stay that is of no less importance than their physical arrangements. Daily Shiurim and Farbrengens are arranged and trips to the Ohel are provided daily for those who wish to study and spend time there.

The logistics are many and the amount of details is astronomical, yet the Vaad Hatmimim is committed to giving every Bochur a Tishrei that they will remember. No Bochur that needs will be turned away and all of their needs will be provided for.

As can be expected, this undertaking comes along with a hefty price tag. To raise funds for this endeavor the Vaad is hosting its annual fundraiser on Wednesday and Thursday October 2nd and 3rd – Gimmel and Daled Tishrei, with the hopes to help cover some of this year’s Tishrei budget.

This year, you can adopt a Bochur.

You can help sponsor his experience by covering different aspects, or the entirety, of his stay.

The goal is to raise $250,000 in 36 hours.
