Rabbi Krinsky Calls for Joining Chalukas Hashas

With the approach of the Chag HaGeulah of Yud-Tes Kislev, Rabbi Yehuda Krinsky released an open letter to the community, reminding everyone to to take part in the annual ‘Chalukas Hashas,’ an initiative begun by the Alter Rebbe following his release from prison:

Dear Friend,

With the approach of the Chag HaGeulah of Yud-Tes Kislev, we take this opportunity to remind you of the annual “Chalukas Hashas” (division of Talmud study) as instituted by the Alter Rebbe.

Throughout the years during the Yud-Tes Kislev farbrengen, the Rebbe, of blessed memory, would speak about the great merit and zechus of participating in the Chalukas Hashas, to complete at least one mesechta from Yud-Tes Kislev to Yud-Tes Kislev, and encouraged everyone to take part.

Indeed, every year at the farbrengen, special cards were distributed on which the assembled would write their name and the tractate chosen. The Rebbe, too, would fill out such a card and include it the collection of the hundreds of cards collected at the farbrengen.

To help create greater awareness and observance of this custom, we have made it easier to join the Chalukas Hashas.

Please click on: http://www.chalukashashas.com – sign up and select the mesechta you have chosen to study (bli-neder) till Yud-Tes Kislev 5779.

Wishing you a גוט יום טוב.

    Tractate “Sukkos”?

    Never heard of it!

If this was the Chaluka of 24 Teves 5711, it was before the nesius was accepted officially. Was the Rebbe referred as C”K Admu”r by the Chassidim at that point? The entry was made as “Ch”k Admo”r Shlita”

Yes, by everyone who had accepted it, which by that point was almost everyone except the Rebbe himself. (Some accepted it immediately after Yud Shevat, and were using that title from the beginning; as more people accepted it over the course of the year, they began doing so as well. There were some who took several years to accept it, and they did not use the title until then.)
