Young Shluchos’ Winter Camp an Amazing Success

The Tzeirei HaShluchos West Coast Winter Camp in partnership with MyShliach of Merkos 302 has concluded an amazing eight, fun-packed days of chayus, chassidishkeit and excitement for close to 80 girls from across the Western United States. This follows a similarly top-notch session for over 100 boys.

Many of these children don’t have the opportunities that other children have and don’t live in particularly Jewish neighborhoods.  It is programs such as this one that afford these young shluchim an opportunity to be with children in similar circumstances, learn, refresh and to get the strength necessary to help their parents in their holy work.

Nestled in the Verdugo Mountains of Glendale, California, the 113 acre camp affords an amazing experience with beautiful mountain views, hiking trails, archery, sports fields, outdoor amphitheaters and much more.  In addition to all the on-site activities, the children went to Pump-it-Up and on a grand trip to Six Flags Magic Mountain.

Amongst the many highlights during camp was a special fire-side kumzitz with Mrs. Racheli Muchnik, shlucha to Oxnard, California.  She entertained the children with wonderful stories and sang Chassidishe nigunim and various camp songs with them.

At the grand banquet, amongst the many prizes given to the children was an exceptionally special grand prize: a dollar from the Rebbe.  This special dollar was provided to the young shluchos by Rabbi Meir Harlig, whose grandchildren attended the camp.  The winner of the Rebbe dollar was Leah Backman, young shlucha to Glendale, California.

The exceptional staff, led by head-counselors Mushka Butman, Shaindy Elgarten, and Malka Aisenbach provided round-the clock chassidishe warmth and a positive environment for these precious children.  The camp is directed by Rabbi Zalmy and Shterna Kudan and Rabbi Mendel and Rochel Loschak.

The executive committee overseeing the camp’s funding and operations, California shluchim Rabbis Simcha Backman, Nachman Abend and Shlomo Bistritsky express their sincere appreciation to the organizations and individuals who helped sponsor the camp.

Rabbi DovBer Farkash, shliach to Issaquah, Washington, aptly summed up the camp experience: “We were so happy to have a warm, Chassidishe camp…both our son and daughter had an amazing time, bonded with other kids and made new friends.  Our kids came back hoarse, but so happy, full of stories about their trips and activities and raving about their counselors.   A groisen yashar koach to everyone involved!”
