New London Kollel Publishes Bilingual Journal

The recently-opened Lubavitch Kollel in London, UK, published a bilingual Halacha journal, written by the yungerleit covering topics learned during the winter.

The Kollel was founded and is directed by Dayan Levi Yitzchak Raskin, Rav of the Lubavitch community in London, in memory of lhbchl”ch his father-in-law Rabbi Nachman z”l Sudak, Shliach of the Rebbe to Great Britain and principal of the Lubavitch Foundation for 55 years. The full program learning commenced this winter with six yungerleit who moved from abroad for this purpose.

The in-depth curriculum for this term was prepared in consultation with Rabbi A.Y. Heller, head of the Kollel Avrechim in Crown Heights, and covered many areas of Hilchos Shabbos, including: Cooking, sorting, opening containers, Muktza, candle-lighting, mixtures of Chametz and more.

A unique feature of this Kollel is the hands-on application of the topics being learnt, through regular Shiurim with Dayan Raskin, in which he discusses challenging questions put forward by Shluchim around the world.

In addition to their own learning, time is set aside in the evenings for learning with others. Some twenty-five members of the local and broader community have weekly Chavrusos with yungerleit, including Anash, Lubavitch youth, ba’ale batim at Chabad houses and others in the Frum community who are looking to learn Chasidus.

For the English language readership, an article has been included in English providing a summary of the Halachos of Muktza with some practical applications.
