BRDC Celebrates Nursing Home Resident’s 104th Birthday

Marking the start of ‘The Three Weeks,’ campers at Bais Rivkah Day Camp had a most exciting and meaningful ‘Ahavas Yisroel Week.’ On Monday, over 70 campers drove over to Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center, where they participated in resident Esther Sandler’s 104th birthday party.

The center’s staff, including Chaplain Michoel Chazan and many non-Jewish nurses, were very impressed with the girls’ enthusiasm and warmth as they livened up the event with songs, cards and gifts, and were eager to invite the girls back for future visits.

Throughout the week, campers enjoyed Ahavas Yisroel themed activities and crafts, submitted artistic creations to the Ahavas Yisroel Poem and Picture Contest, and packed packages to be delivered by the dedicated Bikur Cholim of Crown Heights.

“This week-long Ahavas Yisroel project was launched out of a desire to immerse our campers in a chassidishe environment that demonstrates the importance of and cultivates chessed and good middos in our children,” said Camp Director Sarale Blau and Ruchnius Director Yocheved Geisinsky.
