Teen Struck by Car While Crossing Brooklyn Ave.

A teenager suffered injuries after he was struck by a car as he attempted to cross Brooklyn Avenue.

A Bochur walking on Brooklyn Avenue near Sterling Street was struck by a car as he attempted to cross the street, right in front of his friends.

“He tried crossing to come over to [us] and the car hit him, I saw him fly up in the air,” said one of the witnesses, adding that it was a very frightening sight.

The incident happened at around 9:30am, where a vehicle travelling down the busy avenue struck the teen as he attempted to cross. The driver remained on scene and called 911.

Other witnesses called Hatzalah who treated him at the scene and was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries and is expected to make a full recovery.

      Speed Bumps. That’s the only thing that will stop these reckless drivers – the whole of Brooklyn Avenue is a race track because of the hill. And remember, Bais Rivkah is only yards away from where it happened. Imagine if the driver had mowed down a bunch of little girls.

      But was the bochur at the crosswalk, or jaywalking? Did he look to the right as he crossed? It may well be that he didn’t, I see it all the time. RS, glad he will be OK.
