Elderly Man Clings to Life after being Struck by Car

An elderly man is on a ventilator and clinging to life after he was struck by a vehicle on Schenectady Avenue on Sunday evening.

The incident occurred at around 9:00pm when a Jewish man believed to be in his late 80’s or early 90’s was struck by a car as he was crossing Schenectady Avenue near Empire Boulevard.

Suffering from serious head trauma, EMS rushed the victim to Kings County Hospital where he was put on a ventilator and listed in critical condition.

Authorities could not locate any relatives of the victim and reached out to the hospital chaplain who in turn asked Shomrim for assistance and thanks to the efforts a sister has been located and notified about the incident.

A Shomrim coordinator told CrownHeights.info that they had a particularly difficult time getting any information since none of the man’s neighbors knew anything about him, they all said that he kept to himself.
