Singer, Musician Perform Niggun Yud Beis Tammuz

Musician Leibale Lipsker and singer Simche Friedman present a stirring rendition of the Yud Beis Tammuz Niggun, composed by the chosid R’ Aron Charitonov 90 years ago upon the release of the Previous Rebbe from Soviet prison.

The tune expresses a deep feeling of belief and conviction in Hashem and His Torah, to stand up against all obstacles and obstructions to the ways of Torah and Mitzvos with mesirus nefesh.

  • never heard anything like it!

Beautiful! The piano player is extremely talented! And the singer? Dont get me started!

  • Sons of two veteran musicians?

Are these the sons of Eli Lipsker and Avraham Fried?

I am enjoying the collaboration very much!

  • A skilled singer is also a "Musician"!

I think we need not pigeonhole people who play instruments as the only “musicians” among us.

Many professional singers have been as highly conservatory-trained as any concert pianist or violinist, and indeed their degrees are “bachelor of music” or “master of music”, etc.

A singer who is obviously skilled, who likely grew up with training in the home (from being part of a musical family) and maybe has additional training from outside too, is worthy of the title of “musician”!

And anyway, when the “musician” gets close to the microphone and sings harmony with the “singer” does he or she become a non-musician for those few seconds while he or she is singing? I think not!

From a fellow MUSICIAN whose “instrument” happens to be my (highly trained and practiced) VOICE!
