Flu shots are also a great topic to bring up in arguments with idiots who don’t believe in evolution because it’s precisely due to evolution that the CDC releases a new round of flu vaccines yearly. One could call a creationist a hypocrite if said creationist has had more than one flu vaccine. This is generally not a good idea since most idiots would rather forgo reasonable medicine (like flu shots) than be called a hypocrite so this argument is best to be used as a last resort… or as mockery. Be warned—you will be charged with gotcha arguments if this is used on more than one quack. Doonesbury sums this up quite well,[1] although the exact context of the comic was about bacteria and their resistance.

    Dear Yeudi,

I didn’t really understand your, um, thing. I could make out from your post some ideas about Creationism, possibly Darwinism, since you talk about evolution, you mention the Center of Disease Control and Prevention, idiots, measure of reasonableness, a warning about an argument called gotcha, a doonbugy, comics, bacterial resistance, and a reference[1] to a footnote that does not seem to exist. Is it just me, or am I confused?

Bacterial resistance occurs due to DNA epigenetics, which occurs over a period of days, and is observable, not due to a species’ evolution, which is estimated to occur over a period of eons. So the flu vaccine has nothing to do with Creationism, Darwinism, Intellectualism, Rationalism, or any other ism.
