Music Video: The Sukkah’s Falling

The fun holiday that follows Yom Kippur finally gets a fun music video to boot. Sukkahs are falling, Lulavs are flying, and there are some sweet vocal harmonies in this visual treat by Rogers Park Band, starring Yosef Peysin and Mordy Kurtz, with a cameo appearance by comedian Mendy Pellin.

This is the Chicago-based, Hassidic folk-rock band’s debut music video.

“With the incredible amount of videos and clips that have been put up to get ready for Rosh Hashana and Hannukah, there have been virtually none celebrating Sukkot. This is a holiday that is, to some extent, largely overlooked in the social media world by many of the younger Jewish population,” said Mordy Kurtz.

So the band teamed up with famous Hassidic comic Mendy Pellin, star of the Jew-bel-ish comedy series, and put out this video as part of their work with Jewish student life on campus to create a buzz for the lesser known holiday amongst Jewish college students across the nation.

Mordy Kurtz and Yosef Peysin formed Rogers Park in 2011, and have been recently named Continuum Theatre’s “Best Chicagoland Jewish Band” for 2014.

This video was filmed and edited by Mendel Katz of MK-Visuals. Check out the Rogers Park Facebook page here.
