This is all very nice ,but is a one year old suppose to be sleeping through the night? I personally don’t think so.Perhaps the mom has a bit too much going on and for her convenients needs her baby sleeping through the night..I mean if you put the baby to sleep at seven granted they will need a bottle or be nursed some time throught the night?

  • Tired parent

I find that giving my kids benadryl helps them sleep thru the night

  • to #1

A 1 year old should definitely be sleeping through the night! They actually need the sleep and feel more rested after a full night’s sleep!! It’s for the babies good!

  • a mom

Even a 6 month old needs a full nights sleep. Once ur child is a certain weight he should be able to sleep thru the night. Check with ur pediatrician.

Training ur child to sleep thru the night is doing a favor to ur child (and urself)

  • chaim

to #1 it’s quite judgmental of you to assume that. I myself have had babies that don’t sleep well at night and its insane. My last kid neither my wife nor I slept longer than 4 hours a night till the baby was 1. How about you not sleep for a year and then say the need for the baby to sleep through the night is some kind of convience.

and for the record, most healthy babies DO sleep through the night by 1. In fact most babies sleep through the night by 8/9 months. It’s actually rare that a baby wont be sleeping through the night by 1.

  • another mother

a child by one should long be sleeping thru the night!!!!!!

  • another mom

to MOM: That’s ridiculous. one year olds are perfectly capable of going 12 hours without having to eat. They’re usually just waking up out of habit.

    Oy.
    This makes me so sad.
We are becoming so accustomed to using outside sources for everything, people are forgetting how to tap into their instincts, and tune into their child. A properly tuned-in mother does NOT neat an outsider to create a ‘sleep-plan’. Many one-year-olds are not ready to sleep through the night, especially if they are nursing, and there is no reason at all to feel guilty for giving the baby a nurse during the night. Oy.

    Yes
I know for a fact my friend has a son and at the age of six months he slept all through the night. Yes he is very capable.

  • Mother of many children

Of course a one year old should be sleeping through the night. At 6 months a baby should be sleeping through the night. Ask your pediatrician. Im happy for the mom in the video that at least now, he baby is sleeping through the night, and with the rest of her children iyh shell be able to help them do that earlier. Sleep is not only crucial for the mother, its important for the baby as well.

  • Mother of 3 K H

A baby should be sleeping thru the night as of 7 months, just like a mother gets a much better sleep by sleeping thru the night, so does a baby. Its like teaching a baby everything else they need to learn, you teach them to sleep thru the night and they are a much happier baby!!!

  • Chaya Nesha Stoll

this is for #4 I hope you are joking, you can not drug your baby to sleep.

  • Confused

Why is this for women only? Are guys not allowed to see women talking?

  • For the sour mom #1

Wow! Mom #1…. why don’t you try this and see it works and the kids turn out to be perfectly fine? You might be surprised.
#2 MM… it does work, and any smart mom out there should do this too, everyone has the right to get some sleep… Unlike sour mom #1 (see what happens when you don’t get enough sleep?)

  • s.l

Benadryl is medication and shouldn’t be given on a daily basis or used as a sleeping pill. It doesn’t work the same on all people. But the main thing you want to teach your child is to fall asleep on their own.

  • to #4

Dont drug your kids so that you can have a “good night sleep” what kind of parent are you??? C”V you keep on drugging them to sleep and they might sleep alittle too long.

  • reply to tired parent

obviously!!! if you drug ur kid up before going to sleep, of course theyre gonna sleep the whole night!

  • Smirnoff beats Benadryl

I find that giving my kids benadryl helps them sleep thru the night

This better be a joke. If it isn’t, you ought to be brought up on charges.

  • To number 4

Unnecessarily medicating a child is highly irrensponsible, their bodies will get used to it, and it wont work when they really need it…please stop!

You are so tired you can’t think! Benadryl???? May HaShem open your eyes and help you stay away from that poison.

  • to #4

I find that stripping people like you of their children help keep them safe.

  • sleep train

To # 4- Benadryl is not the answer and does not always work with every kid-can actually make some babies more jumpy! Only use with a doctors advice. There are easy ways to sleep train your baby- letting them cry and keep coming in letting them know you’re there!

  • mom

yes a child should defiantly be sleeping through the night at 1 years old!!!! you can start training them through the night at six months once they are eating solids, being that you know how much you fed them they are not hungry… some people do it earlier if they give formula.
and you think benadryl is the way to put them out??!?!?!?!?!?

  • to #4!

stop using medicine on pure babies!!!
it is so unhealthy for the system.
    use natural instead

  • malcab

    to #4 –

how dare you – benadryl is a medicine for allergies not to be used to put kids too sleep

that is total child abuse and if i knew who you were i’d call the authorities

  • Benadryl - not as a sleeping pill!

To no 4 – benadryl is an antihistamine, which can give health symptoms down the line (chas v’shalom). STOP NOW! Google on to Benadryl side effects, warnings, use etc. Tiredness is one side effect – have mercy on your kid! Try giving milk or calcum supplement, or something else before bed – but NOT BENEDRYL (a chemical drug for use on occasion).

  • Chana

to #4 please check with your dr before giving your kids benadryl that can be very dangerous if the child is overdosed. Also if your kids drink some milk before going to bed that might help hatzlacha

  • benedryl!!!?

i hope you do not administer benedryl just so your child can sleep!! Benedryl should be used if your child has an allergic reaction chas vshalom. It baffles me how people have no problem just pumping medicine into thier kids systems. This is a short term solution, a little effort and routine goes a really long way. A mother is not inconsiderate if she wants a good night sleeps! A 1 yr old baby is old enough that he does not need to eat every two hours. a healthy night sleeps makes a sane and emotionally available mother. kudos to this mom for doing everything in her power to put her life on track!

  • rifka

A one year old baby SHOULD sleep through the night.
Giving your baby Benadryl is TERRIBLE!!!!!!!
Are you aware of the fact that you are drugging your baby to sleep? In my humble opinion, that borders on child abuse if used routinely to get your child to sleep. Speak to your baby’s doctor and ask him if he thinks that’s OK. I highly doubt it.

  • Smirnoff beats Benadryl

#4 is most probably a troll – but just in case anyone wants to try Benadryl (or Benedictine for that matter) as an infant sedative – the answer is DON’T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT:

    From the Dr Sears site:

    Benadryl

    “BENADRYL (DIPHENHYDRAMINE)”

    WHAT IT IS

    WARNING
NEVER give Benadryl or any other sedatives to infants under 1 year of age for sleep. Do not allow daycare providers to give sedatives to your infants. Always consult your child’s physician before using sedatives for sleep in children.
The generic name is Diphenhydramine. This is an “anti-histamine” medication. During an allergic reaction, histamine is released into the blood stream by certain cells called Mast cells. The histamine is responsible for much of the itching, sneezing, swelling or rash that occurs during a reaction. The “anti- histamine” blocks these nuisances.

  • Mammy Yukel

I always gave my little one Benadryl to put him to sleep. And I means all four of my little ones from baby daddy 1 and the other five from my other cuzin he’s daddy 2. Theys all ended up in the slow classes for twelve hole yeers till theys finished grade 4 but that’s just fine by me. I doesn’t need no geniuses to help me run my crystal meth lab out here in the hills of Kentucky!

  • Gravol

Gravol works better than Benadryl! At the bris the mohel uses a few drops of wine to sooth the baby, nothing wrong with a few drops of Benedictine as out bubbies did for generations.

  • To #38 mamma yukel

With your spelling and sentence structure,
I think one of your baby daddy’s beat you about the head one too many times.
Or did you graduate from oholei Torah?
Were you in crystal meth as a child?
Because Benadryl doesn’t cause such severe brain damage.

  • To #40

    I’m 4
Actually, after I give my kid Benadryl,
I take ambien so I can sleep.

  • Yiddishe Mama

Going for professional help should help. After paying $200.00 an hour for consultation you”ll make sure your kids sleeping through the night or soon be broke and pennyless. !!!

  • Mammy Yukel to 41

    such severe brain damage

Do we risk causing ANY brain damage to children?

Besides, if you did not realize that my prior post was a parody, you must have been given Benadryl as an infant.

Gravol is Dramamine, which is chemically very similar to Benadryl.

Again, I seriously hope anyone who is advocating giving these products to babies is just someone with a sick sense of humor. Anyone who seriously administers such medications to infants should have said infants taken away from them while they cool their heels in prison for a few years.

  • Wasting My Time

The commenter with the “drug problem” is obviously trolling. crownheights.info, stop wasting our time with the troll (probably a kid) who is currently cracking up about the ruckus he/she is making.

  • help me sleep with teenagers!

You see, sleeping when they are babies is a piece of cake compared to sleeping with four teenagers at home! Any advise?

  • Go-ds right hand man

A bottle of juice should help, concord grape wine was popular, hence the word “juice” was used to describe cheap wine the carefree parent would share with their infant !
Where is the caring parent that wouldn’t give their infant wine during the day ?
CH where more than the sugar is sweet !
