Advanced Halacha Course Partnership with BML

Is LED lighting allowed on Shabbos? When may one do an autopsy? Are Jewish-owned mortgages Ribbis? Will the miracles of stem-cell-based medicine be accessible according to Torah? Rabbi Faitel Levin has teamed up with Beis HaMedrash L’Shluchim – Merkos #302 to host his acclaimed post-semicha learning for the modern world: the Beis Medrash for Advanced Contemporary Halacha.

In the 21st century, many shailos—from the everyday to the exceptional—can only be understood by someone possessing an intimate familiarity with the technical details and a broad knowledge of recent poskim.

Under the directorship of Rabbi Faitel Levin, author of Hamafteach Hagadol, Rov for over thirty years, and famous for his vast knowledge of contemporary Teshuvos and science, the Beis Medrash for Advanced Contemporary Halacha is like no other learning program. Chazal tell us הלכות עולם לו—truly, the Beis Medrash brings this world into the world of halacha.

Rabbi Levin has partnered with Beis HaMedrash L’Shluchim to bring his online series of classes to the Lubavitch community. From bochurim post-semicha to kolel yungerlait, from members of anash to shluchim around the globe—everyone is welcome.

“As a Rabbi in a remote community,” says Rabbi Falik Schtroks, shliach to Surrey, BC, Canada, “I knew that there was so much knowledge I needed more of—particularly as halacha pertains to modern life. Rabbi Levin’s classes were a game changer”.

“We covered every modern-day shaila I could think of, replete with a breathtaking journey through its science, history, and relevant Teshuvos. I now understand the relative weight of some shailos versus others, and I’ve discovered issues I never even knew to look out for. I highly recommend it!”

The Beis Medrash features three tracks, from advanced to basic—accommodating every schedule.

תורתו אומנתו, the most intensive track, includes full participation in all shiurim as well as the required study of over 200 Teshuvos.

שונה הלכות, the intermediate track, focuses on the shiurim while participants study the Teshuvos at their leisure.

אליבא דהלכתא covers the shiurim alone.

All participants are tested six times over the year on their required material, and each student will receive an appropriate certificate on graduating.

Participants who register before 15 Elul, 5778, get a heavily discounted cost—the time to act is now!
