From Days Gone By: Rebbetzin Surveys the Parade

Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka Schneerson, of righteous memory, led an intensely private life. Yet one time she would permit herself to be publicly seen was on Lag Ba’omer, at the grand parade of Jewish unity and pride.

Growing up in the Tsarist autocracy and Soviet oppression, the Rebbetzin rarely saw such openly proud Jewish events and relished every moment of it.

In this photo the Rebbetzin drives down Kingston Avenue surveying the scenes of the Lag Ba’omer parade.

Had to be in the early or mid-1980s. The car is a front-wheel drive 1982-1990 GM “A” body. Likely a Buick Century or an Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera.
