Governor Celebrates ‘Bar Mitzvah’ During Meeting

The governor of a Jewish Territory established by Stalin YM”S in Russia’s Far East recently celebrated a ‘Bar Mitzvah’ following a visit from the local Chabad Shliach and Chief Rabbi of Russia, and pledged to assist in building the regions first Mikva.

The Jewish Autonomous Oblast, was established in 1934 by the then soviet authorities under Stalin YM”S. The territories governor, Mr. Alexander Levintal, met recently with Rabbi Berel Lazar, the Chief Rabbi of Russia, and Rabbi Eliyahu Riss, the local Chabad Shliach.

During the meeting the governor agreed to put on Tefillin, and much to the rabbis surprise he revealed that it was his first time ever putting them on. Together the celebrated his ‘Bar Mitzvah’ and in addition received his pledge of support to assist in building the regions first ever Kosher Mikvah.
