Kazan Synagogue Renovated for 100th Anniversary

Just in time to celebrate its 100th anniversary, renovations were completed on the central synagogue of Kazan, the capital of Russia’s Muslim-majority autonomous republic of Tatarstan.

The synagogue was originally built in 1915, shortly before the Bolshevik revolution in 1917.

The renovations were undertaken following a meeting that took place 6 months ago between the President of Tatarstan, Mr. Rustam Minironov, and Russia’s chief rabbi Berel Lazar.

The synagogue is led by the chief rabbi and Chabad Emissary to Kazan, Rabbi Yitzchok Gorelik.
