New Sefer Torah for the Rebbe’s Birthplace

Hundreds of members from the Jewish community of Nikolayev, Ukraine and its surrounding villages gathered to celebrate the 18th of Elul with a new Torah Scroll donated to the thriving community.

After finishing writing the last letters of the Torah Scroll, donated by Mr. Israel Alashvilli and Mr. Avraham Alashvilli, the entire community participated in a colorful parade led by the community’s Rabbi, the pupils of the ‘Or Avner’ Jewish School, an Army-band and local police – who closed up the city’s main streets so the parade could proceed.

The parade ended up at the local Synagogue and Jewish community center, where dancing and a festive meal followed.
