A select group of students from the University of Pennsylvania accompanied by their Shliach Rabbi Levi Haskelevich visited the White House’s west wing with one of the Penn alumni David Copley (staff member of the Office of Management and Budget at the White House).

The students dined at Eli’s Restaurant for lunch and then headed off to the Chabad House of American Friends of Lubavitch in DC headed by Rabbi Levi Shemtov. At the Chabad House, Rabbi Bentzi Sudak welcomed them and explained the function American Friends of Lubavitch serve. Rabbi Menachem Schmidt, Shliach to Philadelphia and senior shliach at U of P, introduced another Penn Alumnus, Mr. Ron Dermer. Ron is the current Israeli Minister for Economic Affairs in Washington and co-authored, the best-selling book, “The Case For Democracy” with Natan Sharansky.

Rabbi Schmidt mentioned in his introduction that Ron was a founding member of the Jewish Heritage Programs as well as the Midnight Hakafos Street Dancing at Lubavitch House at Penn.
