Nepal Shluchim Awarded for Efforts amid Tragedy

At the conclusion of a painful week, during which four Israeli hikers lost their lives in a sudden snowstorm in the Annapurna Mountains, Shluchim to Nepal Rabbi Chezky and Mrs. Chani Lifshiz were summoned to the Israeli embassy in the capital city of Kathmandu.

When they arrived, the Israeli Ambassador to Nepal, Mr. Yaron Meir, presented the couple with an award on behalf of the Israeli government, in recognition of their tireless efforts on behalf of all those missing, injured and bringing those who lost their lives r”l to proper burial.

After receiving the award, the Rabbi led a memorial service on behalf of those who lost their lives in the tragedy.

    Now is not the time to give awards and take credit.
    People on the mountain are still missing, Families didn’t even finish sitting shiva, and we are celebrating and smiling with awards for their lives?!!!
