Dignitaries Join Chabad of Berlin to Celebrate New Year
On October 1st, the Jewish Educational Center-Chabad of Berlin welcomed dignitaries and guests for a New Year’s reception.
Mr. Gröhler from German Bundestag, the Berlin Police President Mr. Kandt, the head of a Berlin district Mr. Balzer, the ambassadors of Bulgaria and Slovenia, Ministers from the Embassies of the USA, Canada, Russia, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Serbia and other guests were among those who attended the event.
“I have arrived in Berlin just recently” – shared Mr. Osokin – the Minister from the Russian Embassy in Germany – “and am very glad to start my work with getting to know the Jewish Community here.”
The guests were welcomed by Julia Katz, a lawer and active member of the Chabad synagogue, and then were greeted by Rabbi Yehuda Teichtal, followed by shofar blowing by Rabbi Shmuel Segal and a wonderful violin performance by Jewish Traditional School student Gabriel Malaev. After the main program, everyone was invited to enjoy a kosher sushi buffet, along with a selection of wine.
The evening manifested the friendly support and cooperation between Chabad and a number of public figures and organizations in Germany.
“We are honored to have such important guests with us tonight,” said rabbi Yehuda Teichtal, “and are happy to share the joy of our traditions with everyone.”
