Long Island Friendship Circle Awards Volunteers

The Friendship Circle of West Hempstead celebrated another year of tremendous accomplishment. Over 120 volunteers were recognized and awarded at the West Hempstead Friendship Circle annual evening of recognition and awards ceremony on Tuesday, May 22. The event was hosted at the POSCH club inside Long Island’s prestigious Garden City Hotel.

Proud parents, Grandparents, dignitaries and community leaders were on hand to recognize and acknowledge this years dedicated volunteers.

The West Hempstead Friendship Circle was the first Friendship Circle chapter to be established on Long Island. It was started in 2003 with just a handful of volunteers serving several children that have special needs and their families. It has since grown to a group of more than 120 strong that are currently serving close to 60 children and their families.

The special evening featured delicious dinner and a video presentation that highlighting the impact the Friendship Circle has on all involved as well as the affect it has on the greater community. Talks by volunteers, parents and community leaders were heartfelt and inspiring. Award certificates issued by the Nassau County Legislature and special gifts were distributed as well to all volunteers.
