Chabad Lifeline Dedicates New Montreal Rehab Center

Some 230 members of the Montreal community celebrated the dedication of a new home for Chabad Lifeline, a counseling and crisis center under the auspices of Rabbi Ronnie Fine, Director of Chabad of Queen Mary in Montreal. Chabad Lifeline is a non-sectarian organization dedicated to helping individuals and families affected by addiction.

The new building, a historic mansion located near the Jewish General Hospital, will help expand the scope and reach of Chabad Lifeline.

According to Rabbi Benyamin Bresinger, who has co-directed Chabad Lifeline since 2007 with his wife Karen, the new building, opened in December, has already changed their work.

“We’re able to address the needs not only of the addicts, but their families as well,” Bresinger says. “the expanded space along with the beautiful home help us reach so many more.”

Greeting the guests, Dr. Hartley Stern, Executive Director of the Jewish General Hospital and Professor of Surgery at McGill University, spoke to the mutual vision of Chabad Lifeline and the Jewish General Hospital.

Chairs of the event, Eddie and Heleena Wiltzer, said they hoped the dinner would serve as an “eye-opener” for the community “as to the realities that Lifeline must face, and the wonderful work that they do.”
