JewQ Contestants Arrive in NYC for CKids Shabbaton

By Yakir Havin

For thousands of Hebrew School kids around the world, the last few months haven’t been exactly ordinary. On top of regular classes, kids participated in the JewQ competition which has reached its final phase. After a round of School Championships, 80 contestants remain in the running to be crowned the ultimate winners of JewQ.

Today, those contestants touched down in New York for the live game show International Championship. But before that takes places on Sunday, March 3, CKids — the competition organizer — has prepared an action-packed Shabbaton for the final 80 Hebrew School students.

The Shabbaton began on Thursday, where the kids will be divided into teams and take part in some group activities. The real fun begins on Friday with a trip to Times Square and other parts of Manhattan. There will be beautiful Shabbos programs and meals, after which the students will visit the Ohel. On the night before the final quiz, everyone will be treated to a grand trip.

The weekend culminates on Sunday with the International Championship, where the JewQ contestants will face-off in front of a panel of judges for the right to win it all.
