TAKE 2.0: 1,500 Share Shabbos Meal in Buenos Aires

For the second time, some 1,500 Jewish students and young professionals in South America gathered for an epic Shabbos meal – dubbed Shabat 1,500.

This year organizers said that people from Brazil, Chile, Uruguay, Paraguay, were in attendance.

1,500 youth got together to celebrate Shabbat. A full 3 course catered meal was served and those in attendance stayed and celebrated past 3:00am.

Some 250 showed up for the ahead of the meal to attend prayer services.

The event was organized by the student center “El Lazo – Juventud judía” run by Rabbi Shlomo Levy and Rachel, Zalmi and Rivka levy, who have been serving as Shluchim in Buenos Aires for the past 23 years and are dedicated full-time to students and young professionals.

The event was held in the prestigious convention center called La Rural in Buenos Aires.

A full week before the event, tickets were sold out and there were over 200 people who signed up on the waiting list!

The feeling at the event was incredible, everyone in attendance felt proud to be Jewish and for many this was the first time they attended a Shabbat meal.
