Regional Conference of Shluchim to Asia Concludes

A four-day regional Kinus of Shluchim in Asia and their families, recently concluded in Bangkok, Thailand.

Close to forty families gathered – men, women and children – to learn, acquire skills and draw strength in continuing their Shlichus. The carefully planned program included no fewer than five separate schedules: a program-schedule for men, a schedule for women, a timetable for the boys’ camp, a timetable for the girls’ camp and a program for the very young children.

A special guest was brought from Eretz Yisroel: The Rav of the Chabad community in Rechovot and a member of the Beis Din Rabbonei Chabad there, Rabbi Menachem M. Gluckowsky, who divided his time between the various programs, while in the interim, the Shluchim utilized the opportunity to make one-on-one consultations with him about children’s chinuch and other matters.

The guest of honor was Rabbi Moshe Y. Kotlarsky who arrived with his son R’ Mendy and spent time with the Shluchim, to want to understand the Shluchim and their needs or issues, both communal and personal ones. During the Kinus, Rabbi Kotlarsky shared with the Shluchim some personal recollections and hor’aos from the Rebbe in connection with Shlichus, and also shared from his own experiences on a variety of topics. His son R’ Mendy presented the Shluchim with the extensive activities and options available at the “Merkos 302” offices and encouraged the Shluchim to take advantage of the resources offered to them.

One of the workshops most prominent in their success was that of “Ish Es Rei’ehu” in which each of the Shluchim either presented an idea that succeeded in his activities, or asked his fellow Shluchim for help with specific ideas.

The highlight of the Kinus, no doubt, was the children’s camp organized by the Israeli division of the “MyShliach” organization under the direction of Rabbi Dov’ele Halperin and under the dedicated staff of no less than ten madrichim and madrichos specially brought to run the camp, attended by more than 100 boys and girls, ka”h.

The shluchim wish to thank Rabbi Moshe Y. Kotlarsky, Vice-Chairman of Merkos L’Inyonei Chinuch,  for the generous assistance in a variety of ways, which allowed the Kinus to be a reality; The Chabad House in Thailand, with all its staff, headed by Rabbi Yosef C. Kantor, for the gracious hosting; Rabbi Gluckowsky for all his investment and effort, for coming all the way and for his advice and resourcefulness; to the travel agency www.Kamisar.com on sponsoring Rabbi Glauchovsky’s airfare; and to all those engaged in this great and holy initiative.
