    beautiful simchas bais.
i am not the compining tpe but iwas more than a little upset that while there was at least 4 booths set up selling food on the corner of crown and kingston, there were no public sukkah put up so many many men (not lubavitch but who cares)ate food outside a sukkah by a Chabad event!

I didn’t want to go so I don’t end up crying at the level of tzniys crown heights has gotten to, and at the hang out spots around Kingston Ave…Ad mosai?

The first night of simchas beis hashoeiva was on the second night of Yom Tov. Obviously these pics were not taken on Yom Tov. Perhaps you meant to say they were taken on the second night of simchas beis hashoeiva.

its 1:30 am . i make my way up kingston through the throngs of people, pushing my way to the end of the block.
clouds of ciggarette smoke wafting in the air. music vibrating in my ears. smells of israeli shampoo and french perfume cl0g my throat. feeling pushed around, unable to move or breath. there’s always a constant fear of being sprayed with some can of string confetti by some kid on rollerblades.
i f i look carefully over the jam packed railing, i might get a glimpse of some men dancing. The live band playing. flags waving. as i keep crawling my way up to Crown street i might meet my freinds. bump into some people i couldnt care less about.
choked from being buried under a mass mob of humans, and at m y g-d granted height, stuffed in armpits, i just long to get out. The other side. The Heart of the Town. The new hangout in a once old community. come closer. To what?
i dunno. fresh air to unclog my longs.
    WHEW!
i’ve hit the corner of Crown. i can breath. rid myself of this congestion.
But alas! its not meant to be. instead, my head is clouded. my neshama is choked. inward i am crying out from the depths to g-d to help me just pass throught this mess. i still cant breath. my ears no longer hear music. instead they hear the sound of boys and girls laughing, sputtered cursing. The scene is in a smoking haze of ciggarette ash. people clashing, runing, chasing. After what? who knows? as far as i can see they are chasing after a mirage. i long to hide. but i cant. i need to push my self through this and run away.

whatever happened to Simchas Beis Hashoeva, that time of joy and happiness?
I, for one, am depressed. This is not what i call happiness. This is what i call negligence. This is what i call dreariness. This is what i call disgust. Must i walk in my own streets to witness everything i stand against in its wake?

    and Hence.
    I call.
    From the depths.
Let every one of these boys and girls find his inner peace, be true to herself. Learn to live, to love. To stop chasing after another’s dream and to create for himself his own.

i finnally pass The Mob. They’re still stuck in it.

br girl i couldnt agree with u more! y is everything a competition these days? who could smoke more cigarettes? be the most bummed out! it is absurd!

  • LOVE CROWN HEIGHTS IN TISHREI

AND HERE’S TO YOU BR HOLY PEOPLE. PLEASE GIVE ME YOUR HEBREW NAMES AND YOUR MOTHERS HEBREW NAMES SO THAT I CAN MAKE A MI SHEBEIRACH FOR YOUR POOR SICK DEMENTED SOULS. I WAS AT THE SAME SIMCHAS BAIS HASHOEIVAH AND WHILST I HAD TO PUSH MY WAY THRU FOR THE LARGE TURNOUT THAT COMES FROM ALL OVER BECAUSE THEY KNOW THIS IS THE ONLY PLACE WHERE EVERY TOM, DICK AND HARRY IS WELCOME EVEN IF THEY DON’T LOOK THE PART (BUT BY BEING HERE THEY MAY MOST LIKELY END UP LOOKING THE PART). I MANAGED TO GET A SPOT TO PUT MY VERY OWN COMFORTABLE CHAIR RIGHT UP AGAINST THE BARICADE FROM WHERE ALL I SMELLED WAS COOL AIR AND ALL I SAW WAS MEN AND THEIR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN UNTIL 6 IN THE MORNING WITH SUCH VIGOR THAT THE STREET ACTUALLY SEEMED TO VIBRATE WITH THEIR VOICES. AND THE MUSIC WHILE A BIT LOUD AT TIMES WAS FULL OF THE TRUE SINCHAS BAIS HASHOEVAH SPIRIT. PERHAPS YOU B P ‘S ARE NOT CUT OUT FOR THE SLIGHTEST BIT OF MESIRAS NEFESH. YOU MIGHT BE BETTER OFF STICKING WITH YOUR CRYSTAL CHANDELIERS ETC.

Did the Rebbe forsee what would go on when he specifically said make it on the streets. Obviously yes.Can things be improved- sure-anything can for that matter- as the Rebbe himself said -‘there is no end to goodness.’ But a few points
1 first and foremost-the Rebbe saw a spiritual benefit to this akin and equal to the same event during the time of the Beth Hamikdash. You can look at the event through spiritual or physical eyes.
    2. Shall the event be called off G-d forbid then the majority of attendees who are wholesome lose out.
3 The people who conduct themselves in a way that could be improved upon do not all of a sudden come to Kingston Avenue and discover new unbefore known to them routines.
4 and even these people in spite of themselves gain from the spiritual hamshacha.Case in point-my wife noticed a girl this year from out of the neighborhood dressed much better than last year. Who will ever know if her attendance here helped.

These pictures are beautiful and unfortunately there always needs to be negative comments. Why can’t we try and see the good and correct the not good when we can (and not thrive on the negativity).

PPS Just came back. I have never seen so many HAPPY faces in one place-all ages, hats streimels, caps, yarmulkes, kids who never have a chance to shine, dancing (yes only dancing) up a storm with amazing acts of athleticism in the middle of the circle. You can feel the Rebbes presence.

    Meir:

Criticsm of SBH is in NO WAY a knock at the REbbe. How dare you make that comparison.

There are real issues here. These are our kids that are doing these bad things. Why should my kids have to grow up with people hiding criticms of the issues in our neighborhood behind
    “The Rebbe”.
BR Girl makes some valid points, even though it was a bit mellow dramatic. I for one feel very uncomfortable. The behavior I saw last night on the streets reminded of when I, a BT, went to COLLEGE Parties. No, last night was worse.

We need to face the issues..and point our kids before our desire to sweep all our programs under the rug….GUESS WHAT the dirt under the rug is becoming exposed.

Reread carefully what I wrote. Not once did I deny the issues you raise. I say and say once again-those issues are no reason for the numerous calls by the public and rabbonim to pusel and/or cancel the event. The good should continue and increase and the… should be addressed.Calls to cancel the event are a knock (last time I wrote ‘possibly)on the Rebbees ideas which in turn are a knock on the Rebbe himself.
