New York Jewish Businesses Receive Threatening Letters

From VIN News by Sandy Eller:

Anonymous hate letters bearing inflammatory rhetoric have been reported by multiple businesses in Brooklyn and Manhattan, prompting an investigation of the mail by the NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force.

Police said that seven letters were received between September 29th and October 2nd.  All contained inflammatory language targeting Jews, African Americans and homosexuals.

Among the recipients of the letters were Weiss Bakery in Borough Park and the Israeli mission in Manhattan as well as three law offices, a jewelry store and a Harlem Starbucks.

Assemblyman Dov Hikind said that his office has received calls from several other Jewish owned businesses in Borough Park that also received the hate mail, including a l3th Avenue law firm and Satmar Meat of Boro Park on New Utrecht Avenue.

Each of the identical letters bore a large black swastika in a red circle and the words “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!! JUDEN RAUS,” along with additional text saying that African Americans and homosexuals “MUST BURN IN HELL.”

Hikind noted that the fact that the letters were printed, and not hand written, signified that they required forethought, making them even more disturbing.

“Whoever did this needs to be arrested,” Hikind told VIN News. “People need to know that hateful acts like this will get you sent to jail.”

Police were not immediately available to comment.

“Whoever did this needs to be arrested,” Hikind told VIN News. “People need to know that hateful acts like this will get you sent to jail.”

Arrested for what? How is this a crime? Why are the police investigating, when they surely know that if they do find the sender they will have no right to do or say anything that would have a chilling effect on what is after all constitutionally protected speech? Perhaps Hikind would like to go live somewhere where there is censorship, but he wouldn’t like it because the censors would shut him up too.

Also, the headline says the letters were threatening, but the article doesn’t mention any threats. Making threats is a crime; hurting people’s feelings is not.

The story will die the moment they find that whomever sent this is a Trump hating liberal.
